Vader: Blackout
"Vader: Blackout" is a Star Wars fan film following a slaughter at the temple in Jedha, in which Chixxo forms a plan to take down Vader, and Vader struggles with his past.

This is a short film I made at UCSD with its Star Wars Club. I was a Co-Director of Photography with Kenny Qiu, a Producer, and an assistant editor. As DP, I prepared the film in pre-production and filmed about half the film - the prologue, most of the fight scenes, and the ending scene. As a Producer, I helped conceptualize the film and worked closely with the director, Sardor Danier, on logistics of filming, storyboarding, and story details. I became an assistant editor to help the editor trim down the rough drafts.

This was by far the biggest and one of the most exciting projects I have worked on, and I would say the night time prologue scene at the Jedha Temple is one of my proudest achievements. For this scene in particular, I was given the freedom to storyboard it on my own, instead of over call with the director to collaborate on everything, and I really got to be creative with the scene. The scene was also the largest film set of all with about 30 cast/crew members and a runtime of about 11 hours.

The Star Wars Club premiered the film at UCSD's Price Center Theater on May 4th, 2025, and all cast and crew had a Red Carpet and on-stage introductory event.
It was very memorable and fun, and the biggest project I've worked on.
