​"Focused" is an experimentally made film where I explore the idea of being focused, choosing to use combat practice as the subject.

 

I made this at UCSD for a class in which the assignment was to create a project to showcase in a gallery. I chose to make a film; it was required to be experimental as opposed to narrative, which I hadn't done before.

I showcased the film in a gallery with a speaker system in front of and behind the audience to highlight the dynamic of sounds and immerse them in the film.

I wanted editing to be one of the primary driving forces behind the films watching experience, along with sound and dramatic visuals.

All production is done by me including cinematography, lighting, editing, sound work, and being in the film as the fighter.​

I still plan to improve the sound mixing and production.
